The world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis, is aiming big with the launch of its new product range - Colossus.

The heavy duty trefoil cleats are manufactured from 316L stainless steel and LSF polymer, have been short circuit tested to a level of 104kA peak, and are aimed principally at the transmission and distribution, utility and offshore markets.

Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis, said: “Our research and development team continually monitor the market for feedback and their research showed a significant demand for a heavy duty trefoil solution, but no product readily available.”

“We developed Colossus in direct response and, having unveiled it for the first time at CIRED in Stockholm in early June, have been delighted with the enthusiasm with which its introduction was greeted.”

The new range comprises 14 sizes of clamp, which are suitable for cables ranging from 25mm diameter through to 168mm. While for all cables above 69mm, the option of a saddle version of Colossus is available - an innovative development that delivers the flexibility for an extra 100mm of support to both sides of the clamp.

One of the major benefits of the new range is that the base of all Colossus products can be secured directly to the structure prior to cable installation. The cables can then be laid directly on to it and the over strap installed separately.

“Becoming the world leader in your field is one thing, maintaining it is a completely different challenge,” continued Shaw. “We strive to do this by keeping our eyes firmly on our different target markets and reacting quickly to changing and new demands by developing new or enhanced solutions.”

“This is something we have done time and again and I am confident that Colossus will be another success story for Ellis.”
