RCD Block & Relay

RCD Switch & RCD Protection Breakers

A Residual Current Device (RCD) switch is an essential safety measure when it comes to protection in electrical circuits. It is a current sensing device, which can automatically detect and trip against electrical leakage currents in the circuit whenever a fault occurs, specifically earth leakage faults in the connected circuit, thereby ensuring the protection of a person against electric shocks, electrocution, and possible outbreaks of fire. A Residual Current Device (RCD) switch solely protects against earth leakage whereas an RCBO protects against both over-current and earth leakage faults. Usually, a minimum of two RCDs are used to ensure some light and power remains if one operates.

IPD offers a range of ABB Residual Current Device (RCD) switches designed to ensure flexibility with uncompromising safety. The Residual Current Device (RCD) switch comprises of RCD block DDA200 and an RCD relay RD2. RCD relay operates with an external toroid transformer type TR with window diameter ranging from 29mm to 210mm, which is sold separately. The RCD relay’s mini-DIP switches allow setting of sensitivity and intervention time, with instantaneous tripping time ranging from 0.3S to 5S.

Quality RCD Protection in Australia

ABB RCD switches are suitable to be connected with the relevant MCB. This helps prevent incorrect coupling. The fast connection of the incoming terminals to the MCB makes the installation safe as the coupling elements wont come lose. With a complete range of products, ABB Residual Current Device (RCD) protection offers many benefits, including remote tripping terminals on 63 A versions, and test pushbutton to check the responsiveness of the device. Mistakes in assembling the MCB on the DDA200 are avoided thanks to a mechanical key that avoids mounting an MCB with higher rated current than the RCD breaker. The DDA200 Residual Current Device (RCD) block mounted with an S200MCB is equivalent in functioning to a RCBO.

Our RCD protection products are compliant to worldwide product standards (IEC/EN 61009-1 Ann. G; IEC/EN 61009-2-1, IEC/EN 62423), warranting reliability and safety for people and assets. Our Residual Current Device (RCD) switch range caters to domestic, industrial and commercial applications with multiple pole configurations, namely 2P, 3P and 4P and breaking capacities and rated currents up to 25kA and 63A respectively. Rated residual current sensitivity I?n ranges from 30mA to 300mA. AC type wave form detection is available to ensure protection against all kinds of earth fault currents from AC residual currents.
