How does a soft starter improve electric motor control?
Soft starters reduce inrush current and torque shock during motor start-up. This controlled soft start minimises wear on mechanical components, lowers maintenance costs, and protects connected equipment.
Are soft starters suitable for water pump applications?
Yes. Water pump soft starters are widely used to manage both the starting and stopping of pumps. A soft start water pump solution provides smooth acceleration and deceleration, preventing water hammer and pipe stress. Advanced soft start for motor configurations often includes pump control algorithms, ensuring system protection and stable operation.
What sizes of AC motor soft starters are available from IPD?
IPD distributes soft starters for AC motors up to 1200 A (AC53b) and 1050 A (AC53a). They cover a wide range of motor ratings in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications. Larger sizes are available on request.
What is a 1000V soft starter and where is it used?
A 1000V soft starter provides controlled motor starting in high-voltage applications. It is built on the same platform as the 415V soft starter, operating with the same control software, but designed with stronger SCRs and a more robust construction to handle higher electrical stress. This makes it suitable for applications up to 1200V where reliable motor control is essential. For larger projects, MV soft starters and MV VSDs from AuCom are also available from IPD on request, ensuring coverage across a wide range of motor control requirements.
