IPD has released the second generation of the DEHNventil DV range of Type 1+2 surge arresters; the DVM2. It has been tested to Type 1 + 2 + 3 combined arrester requirements according to IEC 61643-11 to provide equipotential bonding, surge protection, and terminal equipment protection in one device.
The DVM2 provides impressive power density with high impulse current and short circuit current resistance of 100kArms in a modular design, and a compact width of only four standard DIN modules. DEHN has also developed a new Rapid Arc Control (RAC) spark gap technology that has been incorporated into DVM2 to provide faster reaction times against lightning currents.
Providing an impressive lightning impulse capability of 25kA (10/350), the DVM2 also delivers a lower voltage protection level of ≤1.5kV, compared to some other technologies. This ensures DVM2 provides ideal protection in high lightning areas, while still protecting sensitive equipment rated for Category II overvoltage withstand levels.
Easy module replacement, remote signaling contact and 50% space saving on the previous design, ensures DVM2 provides sought after features. Models are available for MEN and non-MEN configurations as well as three-phase and single-phase requirements.
For critical infrastructure such as data centres, this translates into better optimisation of space, lower lifecycle costs and enhanced uptime, helping operators meet demanding performance and service-level agreement requirements without added complexity.
